Hi all!

I would like to install an aftermarket heated seat with the OE switch and relays. As I know the factory setup use a thermistor in the lower pad to measure the heat. Is there any info out there which type of thermistor is used?
Partnr, type range, etc. Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi,
as there are many manufacturers of seatheaters I'm sure there are many thermistors that could be used.
The best chance to get the thermistor of the used heater ist either contacting the manufacturer or strip the heater an examine it.
Which specific heater do you want to use?
Greets,
Tali

Hi Tali,

I have the factory VW T3 "relay", cables and steering column switch. And I want to use them with cheap chinese heating pads. These pads have no thermistor but they could be switched on/off if the "relay" knows what the temperature is - so I need info on the thermistor that the original VW heating pads had.

Cheers,
Zoltan

Hi Zoltan
As far as I know the seat heater in the T4 is rather similar. The PTC should have about 2k at 10°C and 15k at 42°C
The former part number for the relay as 161919533 an later 1E1919533
A current flow diagram you will find in diagram 54/1 out off the VW current flow diagram collection for the T3 (1980 to 1992).

Now you can search for a compatible thermistor

It looks like
SR PASSIVES MF11-682J-B4250 https://www.tme.eu/de/details/ntcc-6k8/ ... 82j-b4250/ and
TDK/EPCOS B57164K0682 https://www.conrad.de/de/p/tdk-b57164k6 ... 00610.html
are the closest thermistors to those values

As I can see they will keep the pads a bit warmer on the highest setting

Hi Zoltan,
as far as I see you have chosen the wrong way. You selected NTC-thermistors (Heißleiter). That will not work. You need PTC (Kaltleiter).

Hi Joachim,
that is bad news then. I need to investigate it further.
