Ich habe einen VW T3 Baujahr 1989. Es hat einen JX 1.6TD und wurde in den frühen 2000er Jahren nach Kanada importiert. Es wurde vom Eigentümer in Deutschland als Wohnmobil aufgebaut. Ich glaube, es war ursprünglich ein Taxi.

Es hat eine sehr hohe Fiberglasplatte, hergestellt von Streber.

Wenn man sich die Optionscodes für das Fahrzeug ansieht, war es ursprünglich ein Personenwagen. Einer der Optionscodes zeigt an, dass es sich um eine Automatik handelte, aber ich habe noch nie von einem 1.6TD mit Automatik gehört, es sei denn, er wurde für den deutschen Inlandsmarkt entwickelt.

Ich habe den T3 komplett umgebaut und meine Frau und ich haben ihn mehrere Saisons beim Camping genossen.

Ich habe einen wassergekühlten Ladeluftkühler am Motor installiert, um ihn effizienter zu machen. Ich gehe gerade die Seite durch und suche nach dem, was andere Leute gemacht haben, insbesondere die Oettinger WLLK-Modifikationen.

Dieses Fahrzeug ist in Kanada ziemlich selten, daher würde ich mich freuen, Informationen zu erhalten, die jemand auf der Liste über das Fahrzeug teilen könnte.

in 1989, there was indeed a pretty small edition of JX T3s (T25s) w/ automatic transmission gearbox (3 gears, NG?) known as the „Berlin-Taxi“.

At the time, I have test driven one of the vehicles that Volkswagen used internally for application purposes.

Hi Dave,
I did some research and it may be that this camper could have been a "Berlin-Taxi".
The series was only about 50 vehicles that were based on the cnfiguration JX Engine and ASS 5-Speed gearbox that was then exchanged for the automatic gearbox Type Nx at the refurbisher. There are infos about NM and NK configurations using some kind of adapting plate to accomodate the bolt pattern of the gearbox (WBX) to the one of the 827 engine block (JX Diesel and other petrol engines).
Weather the main shaft needed adaption I don't know for the Nx gearboxes...
There was a special code for the "Taxi Package" - Ausstattungscode für Taxi Paket "Z 53" see here:

unfortunately this does not explain the specific content of the package - I anticipate this only refers to the body and interior setup of the vehicle and not the powertrain as T3 were not only used in Berlin as a Van Taxi in Germany but then in WBX /Nx powertrains. May be you find this code on the paper sticker close to the fuse box left of the steering column.
The Berlin Taxi was fitted with an electric sliding door - this could have been part of the Z53 package? Does your bus have (remaining) electic components that inidcate the assembly of the electric sliding door?
The colour code of the vehicle should then have been initially "Hellelfenbein"-L115 RAL 1015 as this was the standardized color of a german taxi back at the time - maybe also noted on the paper sticker....

As the vehicle was "prepared" to be a Camper by SK, they might have exchanged the gearbox back from Nx to ASS before re-registration as a campervan.

Vielen Dank für Ihre Recherche. Die ursprüngliche Farbe war Pastellweiß, also war es wahrscheinlich kein 'Berliner Taxi'. An der Schiebetür gab es zu keinem Zeitpunkt einen Hinweis darauf, dass sie motorisiert war. Es könnte aber ein Peoplemover gewesen sein!

Jedenfalls nutzen wir das Fahrzeug zum Campen und lieben es sehr.

Ich genieße diese Gruppe, viele Leute sind bereit zu teilen ... sehr nett.

Many thanks for your research. The original colour was Pastel White, so it likely was not a 'Berlin Taxi'. There was no indication on the sliding door that it was motorized at any time. It may have been a people mover though!

Anyway, we use the vehicle for camping and love it very much.

I am enjoying this group, lots of people willing to share... very nice.

There were about 100 JX with automatic gearbox, mostly Taxi, some authorities vehicle and just a few for privat buyers. I know a Caravelle GL and a Westfalia Club Joker with this combination.
